On Friday, Jan. 27, Merrill hosted the 25-team Middle School Conference Tournament, the biggest middle school wrestling event of the year according to Wrestling Coach Brian Suchocki. Merrill took fourth place out of the 25 teams, and one Merrill wrestler, Remington Skic, took first place in his class.
“The middle school wrestlers have been working hard this season and even though this is a mid-season tournament, it gives the wrestlers a sense of being a team,” Suchocki said. “To take fourth place and just be shy of third is a great accomplishment.”
“The other great part about the tournament is that each wrestler, no matter ability or experience, was able to compete,” he said.
