MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

01-09-23
At 7:56 a.m. a caller reported a suspicious package on the door of her home. The caller found a plastic bag with 6 packaged shower caps inside. The caller was confused why anyone would give them to her. It was unknown who gave the shower caps to the caller or who they belonged to at the time of the report.
At 9:15 p.m. a caller reported a retail theft from a convenience store. A possible suspect was known; further follow-up is needed as of the time of the report.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious male who approached her and made her feel uncomfortable. Officers arrived on scene and identified the male. The individual was told to leave the area. Earlier the same day, officers dealt with the same individual. The individual was reported to have been approaching the door of residences in the neighborhood and making people feel uncomfortable.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. officers received a report of an elderly individual outside screaming and walking barefoot. EMS was dispatched to the location where the individual was assessed and transported to the hospital for treatment.

At 10:39 a.m. a convenience store reported a theft by an employee. Investigation is ongoing.
At 1:47 p.m. the Lincoln County Jail requested an officer make contact with two inmates who were out on Huber privileges, as they had received information that the two had been consuming intoxicants while at work. An officer went to the business and made contact with the two inmates. One had not been drinking and returned to work; the other had been drinking and was returned to the Jail.

At 2:19 a.m. a caller reported she thought someone was breaking into her garage after seeing what she believed to be flashlights outside of it. It was found that what she thought was a flashlight was a flickering, faulty exterior light.
At 9:51 a.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 5:21 p.m. a caller reported an unknown man entered a residence where her two juvenile granddaughters were at. It was found the man had entered the residence after speaking to one of the juveniles who had been outside. He claimed he went inside to ask if they wished to play video games. The man was arrested for criminal trespass to dwelling and disorderly conduct.

01-13-23
At 10:16 a.m. officers responded to what was believed to be a medical emergency. During the course of the investigation, officers located drugs and drug paraphernalia. As a result, a female subject was taken into custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of an illegally obtained prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation hold.
At 12:04 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence for a welfare check. During the course of the investigation, contact was made with a party who had a warrant through Taylor County. The female subject was taken into custody for the warrant and transported to the jail.

01-14-23
At 11:19 a.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred in the city of Merrill. Neither party involved was injured and both vehicles were able to drive away.
At 1:40 p.m. officers responded to an ambulance call of an individual bleeding internally. Officers arrived on scene and assisted as best they could. EMS was notified and shortly arrived on scene where they then took the individual to the hospital to get treated.

01-15-23
At 5:33 p.m. officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the city of Merrill. Several lanes of traffic were closed due to the severity of the crash. The individual involved was not injured, however, the vehicle was severely damaged and had to be removed by a tow truck.
At 9:35 p.m. a suspicious vehicle was reported to officers. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both taken into custody. Suspected drug paraphernalia was found and collected from the vehicle.
