MAPS accepts November and December donations

The following donations were approved and/or accepted at the Nov. 16, 2022, Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) Board of Directors meeting:
The installation of the batting cage upon receipt of funds from the Booster Club; and approve the donation of funds valued at $10,000 from the Family of Owen Cordova for the MHS Baseball Team to construct the batting cage at the Merrill High School; the donation of funds from the Community Foundation valued at $2,500 for Merrill Marching Band Tournament of the Roses travel expenses in memory of Rick Geiger; funds from Culver’s of Merrill valued at $1,000.00 for the Middle School and High School Cross Country Team as a fundraiser/donation kickback from a meal night; a mini fridge from Joan Krohn valued at $50.00 for student needs at Prairie River Middle School; multiple animal mounts from Pat & Henry Zomchek valued at $975.00 for environmental and wildlife education at the Merrill School Forest; candy from the Merrill Firefighter’s Union valued at $100.00 for Kate Goodrich’s Trunk or Treat celebration; as well as, candy valued at $100.00 for Washington’s Trunk or Treat PTO opportunity; cash from the Al Osness, Jr. Family and Carol Osness valued at $75.00 for crediting student food service accounts at Kate Goodrich Elementary School in honor of John & Sherry Geiss’s 50th Anniversary; 400 pumpkins from Grandpa’s Farm valued at $800.00 for celebrating Fall at Kate Goodrich Elementary School; a check from Dennis & Luann Grefe valued at $100.00 for the Band’s Rose Bowl trip; hats and mittens from the Merrill Enrichment Center valued at $100.00 for keeping students at Pine River School for Young Learners warm; diapers from Kristi Krombholz valued at $50.00 for student needs at Pine River School for Young Learners; a check from Culver’s of Merrill valued at $950.00 for the Merrill FFA; diapers from Eric Lee & Laura Lussier-Lee valued at $50.00 for student needs at Pine River School for Young Learners; and, a check from the Gleason Area Lions Club valued at $200.00 for the Band Rose Bowl trip.
The following donations were approved and/or accepted at the Dec. 21, 2022, Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) Board of Directors meeting:
Funds from Incredible Bank valued at $500 to support the Merrill High School Marching Band trip to Pasadena, Calif.; funds from Park City Credit Union valued at $50 for The Nest; cash from Grandpa’s Farm valued at $300.00 for The Nest; cash from Secret Santa valued at $1,500 for enriching the lives of students and staff at Merrill High School; jackets from an anonymous donor valued at $135 for student at PRSYL who do not have warm clothing; cash from Secret Santa valued at $1,500 for spreading Christmas cheer at Washington Elementary School; a check from Church Mutual valued at $500 for DECA’s Warm Hearts – Warm Hands Project; snacks/food from the Red Shed at Grampa’s Farm valued at $100 for filling the Snack Shack at Washington Elementary School; cash from Secret Santa valued at $1,500 for Kate Goodrich Elementary School; funds from the Steinberg Family Foundation valued at $1,820 for Kate Goodrich 1st graders to go to the Grand Theater and Wildwood Zoo; a check from Knights of Columbus valued at $1,252.08 for the Special Education Department; a check from Brad, Tammy and Croix Woller valued at $25 for the Merrill High School Nest; cash from Bible Presbyterian Church’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group valued at $100 for assisting students and/or families at Washington Elementary School; and, a check from the Bible Presbyterian Ladies Bible Study Group valued at $180 for the Merrill High School Nest.
