Marilyn M. Schenzel

Marilyn M. Schenzel, age 83, of Merrill, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill, surrounded by family and under the care of Woodland Court staff and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Service. Marilyn was born on November 13, 1939, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Victor and Clara (Kautz) Mann. Marilyn graduated from Merrill High School with the class of 1957. She worked for five years at the former Semling & Menke doing office work. On May 7, 1960, Marilyn married David Schenzel. In 1962, they had their first son, Steve. Tom joined the family in 1963, and Greg soon followed in 1964. When Greg was in first grade, Marilyn started working at the Merrill High School. After working there for 28 ½ years, she retired in 2003. Marilyn enjoyed tending to a big garden, traveling, cooking, holidays, camping, and spending time at the cabin. She also spent many hours putting together puzzles. Marilyn was always involved with her three sons in school and their sporting events. Her grandchildren and great granddaughter: Amanda, Autumn, Trevor, Ethan, and Parker were a joy to be with.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, David Schenzel of Merrill; sons, Steve Schenzel of Tomahawk, Tom (Kay) Schenzel of Merrill, and Greg (Sarah) Schenzel of Irma; grandchildren, Amanda (Nate) Vandre, Autumn Schenzel, Trevor Schenzel, and Ethan Schenzel; great granddaughter, Parker; brother, Stephen (Eunice) Mann of Merrill; and brother-in-law, Roger (Karen) Schenzel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Clara Mann; and her aunts and uncles, Ed and Esther Kautz and Gerhard ‘Jerry’ and Selma Kautz.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Thursday, December 22, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Entombment will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the church.
