LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORT

Wrap Up for the Period of: 11/28/2022 – 12/04/2022

A 58-year-old man Niagara, Wis., man avoided injury following a one-vehicle semi crash on Saturday, Dec. 3.
A deputy responded to the reported crash at 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning, near the intersection of US Hwy. 8 and Cty. Rd. U in the Town of Bradley. The driver of the semi was reportedly unable to stop in time for the stop-arms at a railroad crossing, due to icy road conditions. As a result of the crash, both the semi and stop-arms sustained moderate damage.
A 52-year-old Merrill man was cited for First Offense Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated (OWI) after a vehicle he was driving was found in a ditch in the Town of Pine River Saturday morning. A deputy responded to the discovery of the vehicle just before 4:00 a.m. on Cty. Rd. W, near Riverview Ave.
A 53-year-old Merrill man was cited for First Offense Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated (OWI) early Friday morning. A deputy on patrol stopped the vehicle the man was driving just before 1:30 a.m., after observing it travelling 88 mph on US Hwy. 51 in the Town of Birch. Following the stop and subsequent arrest, the investigating deputy located an open intoxicating beverage inside the vehicle.
A northbound lane of US Hwy. 51 was closed for just over an hour, due to a motor vehicle crash in the Town of Merrill, on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Deputies responded to the one-vehicle rollover crash at 12:34 a.m. Wednesday morning. Neither of the two men in the vehicle reported being injured. Icy road conditions are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Ten motorists reported striking deer over the past week in Lincoln County, down from 13 the week before.
