The T.B. Scott Library Community Artshare Exhibit will feature the work of local area artist, Tom Lambrecht, during the months of Nov. and Dec. 2022. Entitled “Rocks, Canvas, and Coasters, Oh My!” the exhibit will be on display in the Carnegie Wing on the second floor.
Lambrecht resides in Rib Mountain and has worked at Reindl Printing in Merrill for 24 years as a graphic designer. He also currently serves on the Board at the Center for the Visual Arts – Wausau. Lambrecht knew already in kindergarten that he liked drawing. He graduated from UW Stout with a degree in graphic design, and he took classes in studio art, sculpture, and oil painting, but acrylics became his favorite medium.
More recently, Lambrecht began creating amazing chalk art, for which he has received recognition. Drywall is painted with chalkboard paint, and then he uses colored chalk to create dynamic illustrations. You can see his creations on the walls at Tribute Golf Course, Greenheck, and Wausau Surgery Center. He and his children, Ella and Jack, also participate in yearly sidewalk chalk competitions, and have won the Artist Choice Award at Wausau’s Chalkfest four times, first place at Merrill’s Chalk It Up, and Group Jury Prize at Chalkfest Eau Claire.
During the pandemic, there wasn’t much to do, so Lambrecht and his family started painting rocks to hide in the surrounding areas and really enjoyed the time spent together. Lambrecht continues to paint rocks and has now branched off into painting coasters which can be found on Etsy. You can see his available creations at Lambrechtart.com or “Tom Lambrecht Art” on Facebook.

Tom Lambrecht’s painted rocks are miniature works of art.
