The Christmas Spirit Lincoln County United Giving Tree Program has kicked off for the season, intent on helping brighten the faces of area children and relieve some of the holiday pressure from parents and families having a tough time this year. They’re hoping area residents can help them to provide a joyful Christmas for area children by selecting a children’s tag from a participating Christmas Spirit tree and shopping for some of the gifts that child wants and/or the items that child needs this holiday season. Tags should be checked out appropriately where trees are being hosted, and gifts should be purchased and returned by the date noted at that tree host. Gifts should be bagged and the tag affixed to the bag of gifts when they are returned, but gifts should not be wrapped.
Participants can shop for gifts for a child indvidually or can join together with others to share the spirit of the season.
Trees with gift tags are being hosted this year at these locations in Merrill: Church Mutual, Johnson’s Gifts, Merrill Enrichment Center, Park City Credit Union (on Pine Ridge Ave.), Clark’s Cup N’ Cone & Cheese Shop, Marshfield Clinic, Our Savior’s Church, Saint Stephens UCC, Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Saint John Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church, and Bible Presbyterian Church. These Tomahawk locations are also hosting trees this year: Park City Credit Union, Standard Merchantile, Community Thrift Shop, Honeycomb, and The Rock Church.
“As the holidays approach, the stress of trying to make things ‘nice’ for many families can be a real issue,” Christmas Spirit organizers say. “Please consider helping bring smiles to the faces of the children involved in this program.”
“Whatever it may be, we thank you for giving depth and meaning to a ‘Merry Christmas’ for area children.”
