Cheryl Baumann-Hornischer

Cheryl Baumann-Hornischer sadly passed away on Monday, October 17th at the age of 59 in her sleep after a battle with MS.  Cheri was born on March 17th, 1963. She grew up and lived most of her life in Merrill, WI. After leaving for a while and living in Vail, CO in her early 20s, Cheri settled back in her hometown of Merrill where she raised her three children.  Cheri had a passion for traveling. This was evident by her past ownership of a travel agency, taking her family on many trips, and helping her children plan trips of their own. Some of her favorite places to travel to included New York City and anywhere in Colorado. She also loved watching football with her son, especially the Denver Broncos. As time went on, she enjoyed watching her son coach his high school football team and she would make it to most of his games.  Cheri was a sweet, goofy, loving, individual who loved her three children unconditionally and supported them in everything they aspired to be. They, along with her grandson, were her happiness and joy in the world.

Cheri is preceded in death by her father John Baumann, grandmother Dorothy Baumann, grandfather Leslie Baumann, and Aunt Mary Wojan.  Cheri is survived by her mother Anora Busch, brothers: Robert (Julie) Baumann and Timothy Baumann; her ex-husband Mike Hornischer; her children: Alyssa Swan (Kyle Swan), Adam Yirkovsky, and Shania Hornischer; her grandson, Eddison Swan; and her nephews John (Kayley) Baumann and Michael (Courtney) Baumann.

A family only funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12th at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery in Merrill, WI. There will be a Celebration of Life to follow at the Sylvan Hill Shelter in Wausau, WI at 12:30pm-4:30pm for anyone who would like to join the family in celebration of Cheri. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Multiple Sclerosis charity, or any charity of your choosing, under Cheri’s name, is appreciated.
