MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

10-24-2022
At 12:00 a.m. Merrill officers assisted Wausau PD in arresting a female in Merrill for a domestic disturbance she was involved with that occurred in Wausau. The female was arrested and turned over to a Wausau officer at the county line.
At 12:24 p.m. a caller reported a domestic disturbance at a residence. The involved female was found locked out of the residence upon officers’ arrival. The involved male was reportedly intoxicated inside with an infant. It was further reported the male had grabbed the female in a headlock maneuver during the dispute and made threats toward the female. The male was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

At 3:42 p.m. two juveniles were said to be fighting one another. It was found the two claimed to be in a “fight club” and were play-fighting. Their parents were advised of the complaint.
At 5:36 p.m. a caller reported a vehicle abandoned for over a week near their residence with no registration plates attached. The owner was cited for abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was later towed and impounded.

At 12:09 p.m. a bike was reported as stolen from a home. Investigation is ongoing.
At 3:06 p.m., while checking on a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot, officers observed two individuals inside in possession of drug paraphernalia. When confronted by officers, the driver admitted to being in possession of the paraphernalia and turned over further paraphernalia not visible to officers. The driver was cited for being in possession of the paraphernalia.
At 3:55 a.m. officers, an ambulance, and the Merrill Fire Department responded to an intersection for a two-vehicle crash. As a result of the crash, both vehicles had to be removed by tow truck. A crash report will be completed for the incident.
At 10:35 p.m. a driver of a vehicle was taken into custody for operating while under the influence after officers had stopped to check on the vehicle when it broke down on the side of the road. The driver was issued two citations for the incident and released to a responsible party.

10-27-2022
At 12:39 p.m. a vehicle was stopped after it was observed rapidly accelerating from a stop sign, causing the tires to spin on the black top for an extended distance. The driver was issued a citation for the behavior.
At 12:59 p.m. a two-vehicle crash was reported at an intersection. As a result of the crash, both vehicles had to be removed by tow trucks. A crash report is yet to be completed for the incident.
At 2:30 p.m. a four wheeler was stopped after it was observed accelerating at a high rate of speed, causing the front tires to come off of the ground, near a school. The driver was issued two citations as a result of the stop.
At 10:06 p.m. officers responded to a report of an unattended garbage fire burning in the front yard of a residence. Upon officer’s arrival, they found no one to be around the fire and received no answer when knocking at the residence. In order to put out the large fire, the Merrill Fire Department was requested to the scene and was able to extinguish the flames.

10-28-22
At 2:50 a.m. an officer located a vehicle with three occupants at a park in violation of park curfew. One of the occupants provided false information in providing his identity. He was cited for obstructing an officer.
At 3:52 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 5:43 p.m. a store reported damage to a window.
At 9:27 p.m. a caller reported a sick coyote attempting to get inside of a hotel. Officers did not locate any coyotes and the hotel clerk denied any issues with an animal attempting to gain entry.
At 10:20 p.m. officers responded to a 911 hang-up call after a female reported someone had struck her vehicle and then run off. Officers found a male was in an apartment against the tenant’s wishes. The male left with a party who came to pick him up, and he was warned not to return and cause further issues. The male returned a short time later, after threatening the driver who had picked him up with violence if she didn’t return him to the apartment. The man was arrested for two counts of disorderly conduct, battery after it was found he had shoved one of the females causing bruising to her, two counts of felony bail jumping, and one count of misdemeanor bail jumping.

10-29-22
At 2:44 p.m. an officer investigated a minor crash in a parking lot.

10-30-22
At 2:41 p.m. an officer responded to a call of a bullet being located within his mail box, investigation ongoing.
At 8:16 p.m. officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run complaint where the suspect driver took off running. Officers responded and an investigation is ongoing.
