Authorities responded to a multi-family apartment building on N. Memorial Dr. in Merrill on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, for a 911 call indicating two individuals at the residence were not breathing.
Per the Merrill Fire Department, Medic 62 and 63 of the Merrill Fire Department, along with law enforcement, responded. EMS evaluated both patients and determined resuscitation efforts to be futile.
The Lincoln County Coroner’s Office also responded, and a 35-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man were both pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul Proulx and Deputy Coroner Valerie Caylor.
The bodies were taken to UW-Madison Hospital for autopsy. Caylor is awaiting toxicology reports before making a final determination on the cause of death.
The deceased woman was living at the N. Memorial Drive address in Merrill but had ties to the Lac du Flambeau area; the man had a Merrill address.
The Merrill Police Department is investigating.
