How to obtain a free ID to vote in the Nov. 8 election

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reminds voters they can obtain a free identification card which is valid for voting in the Nov. 8 Wisconsin Fall Election through their department.
Voters can use their driver’s license, military or student ID card, or an ID card from the DMV for identification purposes when voting at the polls. Proper identification for voting must include a photo. (Check https://bringit.wi.gov/ to see if your ID meets requirements for voting.)
To obtain a free ID card from the DMV to show at the polls, go to wisconsindmv.gov (https://idguide.wi.gov/) for a list of documents you will need to gather. Then go to a Wisconsin DMV Customer Service Center in person, with these documents in hand, to obtain an ID.
If all required documents are not readily available, follow the DMV’s “Voter ID Petition Process” to obtain the needed information to quickly obtain a receipt valid to take to the polls for voting while the remaining documents or verifications are obtained.
Call DMV’s Voter ID hotline at 844.588.1069 with questions.
To find a local DMV Customer Service Center, check hours, services and wait times, visit wisconsindmv.gov\centers.
