Merrill’s 14th Annual Lincoln Lager Barleyfest, presented by Dave’s County Market, will be held this Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Held at the Smith Center (Merrill Area Recreation Complex), 1100 Marc Dr. in Merrill, this event is the perfect opportunity to sample more than 100 different micro-brewed beers and wines, and to raise money for a good cause to be used locally, as well.
“Many of the breweries will be familiar, from Merrill’s very own Sawmill Brewing Company to Mosinee Brewing Company,” said Dan Wendorf, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Merrill. “But there will be many opportunities to try drinks from lesser-known brewers like Half Moon Hill of Athens, which specializes in hand-crafted wines, meads, and hard cider.”
Attendees will receive a sampling glass so they can travel throughout the event getting 2- to 3-ounce sample pours, along with a guide to find each of the breweries and wineries at Barleyfest. Live music will be provided by the Ron Denson Band.
Designated drivers can attend FREE if they are with one or more attendees with a paid ticket. The Merrill-Go-Round will also provide door to door transportation. Call 715.536.7112 at least one hour in advance to schedule a pick-up time.
Advance tickets are $30 and are available at the Smith Center, Dave’s County Market, Ballyhoos, and the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce in Merrill and in Wausau at WAVE 100.5 FM. Tickets are also available online at llbarleyfest.com/tickets/.
Tickets are $35 at the door. Attendees must be at least 21 years old.
For out-of-town attendees, a Bed & Brew Package provides two Barleyfest tickets and one room at the AmericInn in Merrill. For more information and pricing, call the hotel at 715.536.7979.
The Lincoln Lager Barleyfest raises money for local charities and has donated more than $35,000 since 2008 to charities such as the Lincoln County Humane Society, Merrill Food Pantry, Normal Park Improvements, Merrill Tornado Relief Fund, Merrill Historical Society, Merrill Park Endowment Fund, Merrill River Bend Trail, Merrill Noon Optimists, and others.
