The Merrill Girls Varsity Tennis Team had the home court advantage on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, when they played the girls from Wausau West. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to give them the edge they needed. Wausau West defeated Merrill in all four singles games, and then took the wins in the three doubles games, as Merrill has been forfeiting all of the doubles games this year due to the lack of any experienced duos to take on those roles.
Match results in singles were:
No. 1 – Mia Bailey, Wausau West defeated Lauren Cohrs, Merrill, 6-0 , 6-0 , -;
No. 2 – Alexis Kloth, Wausau West defeated Sarah Rell, Merrill, 6-0 , 6-0 , -;
No. 3 – Ruby Edmundson, Wausau West defeated Madisin Jacobs, Merrill, 6-1 , 6-0 , -;
No. 4 – Lilly Wittwer, Wausau West defeated Kaytlyn Hulke, Merrill, 6-0 , 6-0 , -;
The Wausau West doubles teams of Miranda Nelson/Abby Names, Mackenzie Bautch/Hannah Baumann, and Rachel Harder/Chloe Vandenberg all took the wins for their matches, as Merrill forfeited those matches.
Box Score
Wausau West 7 @ Merrill 0
