Roland J. Hall

Roland J. Hall, 93, of Merrill passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at Our House Senior Living, Wausau with his daughter by his side. Roland was born March 7, 1929, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of the late Martin and Lula (Hurd) Hall. Roland served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1951. On June5, 1948, Roland married Melita Weber; a union that lasted 72 years until Melita preceded Roland in death on July 21, 2020. Roland worked in commercial construction. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Roland enjoyed working on cars, taking care of both mechanical and painting projects. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino with Melita. Roland especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Sue (Michael) Hoffman, Merrill; son, Michael (Dana) Hall, California; his former daughter-in-law, Charlene Hall, California; four grandchildren, Dionne Hall, Darcey Hall, Dayna (Chris) Mueller, and Aaron (Sara) Hoffman; twelve great-grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Dallas, Charles, Lindsey, Prescott, Louis, Marisol, Drew, Max, Lucas, and Benjamin; two great-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Alice; sister-in-law, Kay Hall, Merrill;brother-in-law, Bill (Shirley) Weber, Merrill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roland was preceded in death by his wife, Melita Hall; parents Martin and Lula Hall; son, Mark Hall; grandson, Andy Hoffman; and siblings, Richard Hall, Martin ‘Bud’ (Jean) Hall, Everett (Margaret) Hall, Janet (Doug) Cole, Donald (Marion) Hall, and Violet Krueger.

The funeral service for Roland will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Michael Southcombe will officiate. Burial will take place at Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott, Lincoln County. The visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roland’s name may be made to St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill, or to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
