2022 marks the 75th anniversary of the Merrill Area United Way (MAUW), and to celebrate, they wanted a fresh, distinctive new look they could use to commemorate this significant year.
MAUW decided to hold a 75th anniversary logo design contest and invited students in the 2022 Merrill High School (MHS) Advanced Graphics class to submit design ideas.
The guidelines: “The logo design was asked to acknowledge the 75 years, yet remain within the United Way Worldwide marketing restrictions for use of United Way designs per copyrights,” MAUW Executive Director Dee Olsen said.
Five students submitted entries, and the MAUW 75th Anniversary Committee selected the winning entry.
The winning design was developed by then MHS Junior Kalynn Podgorski, and Podgorski received a $100 debit card for her design, courtesy of Incredible Bank.
Andrew Gille and Parker Lezotte received honorable mention.
The new logo “will be used to create community awareness around our 75th anniversary and be placed on marketing materials, signs, banners, and t-shirts,” Olsen said. For more information about the MAUW, visit www.merrillareaunitedway.org or email Dee at: [email protected].
