Jean B. Rahlf

Jean B. Rahlf, age 72, of Irma, WI, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.  Jean was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada on August 22, 1949, to the late Alfred and Angela (Olson) Maygard.  She was married to Allen “Al” Rahlf on June 24, 1989; he survives. Jean grew up in Canada and later moved to the United States where her and her husband owned and operated Brandy’s Acres Riding Stables in Irma.  Jean’s passion was for animals.  Her home, sometimes replicating a zoo, was always filled with rescues, holding a special place in her heart for her horse, Champ, and her cat, Lucy.  Jean dedicated herself to supporting those with addiction as a drug and alcohol counselor in the Tomahawk and later Rhinelander area, a job she truly enjoyed and embraced.  She had many hobbies.  Over the last several years, she loved panning for gold and was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Lake Superior for shoreline panning and sluicing with Al.  Jean’s love was for her family.  Her quiet, yet so bold and strong personality was infectious.  Always there in her helpful and caring ways, she touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Allen “Al” Rahlf, of Irma, WI; two sons, Warren Mildenberger, of Tomahawk, WI, and Trevor (Amanda “Mindy”) Mildenberger, of Merrill, WI; one daughter, Karen Mildenberger, of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; two stepsons, Michael (Chrissie) Rahlf, of Merrill, WI, and Dustin (Nikki)Rahlf, of Irma, WI; her twin sister, Joan (Albert) Swartz, of Gwynne, Alberta, Canada; one brother, Wayne (Ellen) Maygard, also of Gwynne, Alberta, Canada; and her mother-in-law, Phyllis Rahlf, of Merrill, WI.  Jean is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Angela, her brother, Marvin Maygard; and her stepdaughter, Michelle Grudzinski.
