Lincoln County Veterans Service Officer
At the July 19, 2022, Lincoln County Board of Supervisors Meeting, John B. Olson, Jr., was officially and unanimously elected as the County’s Veterans Service Officer, notwithstanding he had already been hired and operating in the role.
“Before being hired for this role, I worked at Social Security Administration as a Customer Service Representative, RecruitMilitary as a Senior Sales Specialist, and FootLocker Inc. as a Recruiting Supervisor,” John said.
He was also in the Unites States Marine Corp. “My military career as a United States Marine spanned 26 years, which included 2 1/2 years in the Marine Corps Reserve,” he said. “The first third of my [military] career was spent as an Infantryman and Security Forces Marine. The second third of my career was spent in a variety of roles including recruiting, unit training coordinator, and instruction and curriculum development specialist. I finished my career working as a Staff Officer at a Recruiting Headquarters where I oversaw training operations and staff development.”
“My highest enlisted grade was E-7, Gunnery Sergeant,” John said. “I received a Commission in 2010 and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3.”
John is an Antigo High School graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree from City University of Seattle and a Master’s in Business Administration from UW-Stevens Point.
He is married to his wife, Tracie, and the couple has three children – daughter, Andi, and twin sons, Jared and Benjamin.
“My youngest son is enlisted in the US Air Force, and my other son plans on pursuing a commission when he completes college,” John said.
When he is not at work, you can find John outdoors – riding his mountain bike, hunting, fishing, camping, or “whatever the season brings.”
Deputy Veterans Service Officer
Tiffany Daigle joined the Veterans Service team in June 2022 as the Deputy Veterans Service Officer. Previously, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Correctional Officer, and, most recently, at Lincoln Hills as an Operations Office Associate.
“I applied to become the Deputy to help veterans and their families receive the benefits and care they deserve for serving their country,” Tiffany said. “I understand how difficult it is for veterans to receive the care and benefits they need, based on my observations and experiences of my friends and family. I am passionate and dedicated to doing the best job possible for the County’s veterans and their families.”
“My husband, Benjamin Daigle, served in the Army 2005-2012 as an Infantryman,” she said. And both grandfathers also served in the armed forces. “Richard Priewe served in the United States Air Force 1953-1957 as an Airman Basic, and Raymond Towne served in the Army 1953-1955 as a Generals Clerk.”
Tiffany’s family is from Rhinelander, but she currently resides in Tomahawk with her husband, Benjamin; three daughters – Hailey and twin daughters, Savannah and Deanna; and their German shepherd where they own and operate a beef farm. Tiffany’s hobbies include hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, dancing, going to music festivals, reading books, and playing with her daughters.
The mission of the Lincoln County Veterans Service Office
The mission of the County Veterans Service Office (CVSO) is to serve as the liaison between veteran benefits and those who may be entitled to them, acting as advocates to assist Lincoln County veterans and their dependents in any way possible. Of utmost importance is raising the profile of the veteran’s issues within the community and educating the public on the contributions and benefits of veterans, alongside service organizations and community leaders; and we will responsibly manage our limited resources and leverage what we have to serve the citizens of our county.
