Hundreds of rubber ducks float down the Prairie River after being dumped into the river en masse from the bucket of an end loader off the Third Street bridge in Merrill. The holders of the ticket whose ducks are the fastest three to float through the finish line, plus five ducks drawn at random, including the last duck to finish, are the lucky winners of cash prizes. This year’s winners are: 1st place Aimee Knospe $800; 2nd place Jerry Geiss $300; 3rd place Rose Stanek $200; random picks Jill Kasper Krueger, Chase Radtke, Glynis Schroeder, and Tammy Loty $25 each; and last duck Ginny O’Brien $25. Tickets/ducks were sold by Lions Club members for $5 each or six ducks for $20.

Lions Club volunteers stand in the Prairie River between Prairie River Middle School and Stange’s Park in Merrill, announcing the numbers of the winning ducks as they float across the finish line during the 10th Annual Merrill Lions Rubber Duck Race on Thursday, Aug. 4.
