The Community Blood Center (CBC) invites blood donors to attend this year’s Merrill MASH blood drive on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Northwoods Veterans Post (601 Johnson St., Merrill). The blood drive is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CBC is pleased to partner with VFW Post 1638 for this annual event. For every blood donation received, CBC will make a monetary donation to the organization.
“When we think of summer at CBC, MASH is one of the first things that comes to mind,” said John Hagins, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Community Blood Center. “It’s an event rooted in tradition, from the theme to the t- shirts and brats on the grill. At the core, though, this day is all about community – making sure blood is available for hospital patients and supporting local veterans. One simple action can make double the impact.”
All presenting donors will receive this year’s exclusive MASH t-shirt, lunch and refreshments. Healthy and eligible blood donors are encouraged to join in the lifesaving summer festivities by scheduling a donation at communityblood.org or calling 800.280.4102. CBC currently has an urgent need for Type O and A blood donors.
Summer is often one of the most challenging times of the year for blood collection. Many are busy enjoying the warm weather, going on vacations, and filling their days with summer activities. Blood donation is, unfortunately, not always at the top of the agenda. Recreational traumas and injuries often increase during the summer months, as well. It’s crucial that community members make blood donation part of their summer and regular routine by donating blood every 8 weeks. MASH is just one way to encourage those eligible to make time to donate this summer.
