The 2022 Council Grounds State Park Annual Amateur Photo Contest will begin taking submissions of photographs that were actually TAKEN within the boundaries of Council Grounds State Park between Aug. 1, 2020, and July 31, 2022 (a two-year period).

Color images must be submitted between July 1 and July 31, 2022, as high resolution .jpeg files emailed to: [email protected]. No panoramic or digitally altered photos, and tall, narrow photos from phones don’t work well either. Send photos that could be reprinted as 4×6” or 8×10” prints.

The photo contest is divided into categories: Plants (wildflowers, trees, shrubs, fungi, etc.); Wildlife (includes animals, birds, insects, etc.); People Using the Park (do not include photos of easily identifiable people); and Landscapes (broadview scenes, sunsets, sunrises, river, etc.).

Each entrant may only submit one photo in the category of their choice.

The annual photo contest is organized by the Friends of Council Grounds State Park. Complete contest rules are available at: https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/councilgrounds/photocontest

First place winners in each category will receive a 2023 Wisconsin State Park vehicle sticker, and second place winners will receive Council Grounds merchandise or a gift certificate valued up to $15. Public voting to determine the winning photographs will take place by email between Aug. 15 and Sept. 15, 2022, and finalist photos will be available for viewing on the Friends of Council Grounds State Park Facebook page at that time, as well as at the actual Council Grounds State Park contact station and at the T.B. Scott Library.

Winners will be announced and notified in October 2022.
