Marlowe is April Youth Optimist at MHS

Emma Marlowe has been named April Youth Optimist at Merrill High School. She was nominated by Mrs. Alyssa Swan and Mrs. Bethany Martinovici.

Mrs. Swan said, “I’ve coached Emma in Cross Country for many years. I also taught her in Freshman physical science. Emma is a wonderful human being. She is kind, caring, and genuinely a good person. In regards to her attitude, on the Cross Country Team (where I’ve interacted with her the most), she is stellar. Emma always helps others on the team and is one of our biggest cheerleaders, making sure that all of my athletes feel welcomed and appreciated. She is willing to help out whenever asked and never complains.”
“Emma was chosen to be a part of LEAD, a leadership program for athletes. (This is very fitting for her as she is always a positive member of our team),” Swan said. “Emma has also taken tough classes throughout her high school career, including anatomy, injury sports management, and many other AP and dual-credit courses. Emma is a kind and caring student, willing to help anyone, but in such a wonderfully kind way. I am very confident that she will make a difference in this world and has a very bright future ahead of her.”

“Emma always faces the day with a smile and positive interactions with anyone she meets,” Mrs. Martinovici said. “She is involved in leadership positions in school, athletics, and extracurricular clubs where she can encourage and share experiences with her peers. She consistently models excellent character traits and optimism daily. Emma has a special place in her heart for all people. She is open-minded, dependable, and creative when it comes to her day and the activities she participates in. She takes initiative when she notices a peer struggling and helps where it is needed, whether that is in the classroom or on athletic teams. She has volunteered her time with all abilities and is always willing to step up to the plate.”

Throughout her high school career, Emma has been involved in Junior Optimist Club (Vice President and Secretary), National Honors Society, LEAD, Link Crew, Sign Language Club, Raise Your Voice, “FRIENDS,” Track and Field (Varsity Letter), and Cross Country.

Activities outside of school include Brooke’s School of Dance, Make A Difference Day, and Special Olympics.

Emma plans to attend UW-LaCrosse to major in Exercise Science. She is the daughter of Chris and Andrea Marlowe.
