MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

05-30-2022
At 3:54 p.m. a male was located inside a business that he was not allowed to be in. The male was found to be in violation of his court orders by being intoxicated and arrested for the violation.

At 9:46 a.m. a bank reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill as part of a business’ deposit.
At 4:21 p.m. a business reported receiving a counterfeit $100 bill.
At 7:18 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver refused to identify himself and began driving away, leading officers on a brief, low-speed pursuit. Once stopped, the man was arrested for fleeing an officer as well as operating while intoxicated.

At 12:47 a.m. an officer located three juveniles in a park in violation of park curfew and juvenile curfew. One was warned and the other two cited for curfew violation, as they were warned the previous night for curfew violation.
At 3:06 a.m. a caller reported her boyfriend had stabbed her. The boyfriend left prior to officers’ arrived, but he was located a short distance away and arrested for substantial battery and bail jumping.
At 10:06 a.m. a caller reported she was borrowing a trailer to assist in moving and someone had stolen it. It was found a family member had removed the trailer without letting her know.
At 4:02 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 6:10 p.m. a caller reported she had returned home after being gone several days and found damage to a window of her residence. There was damage consistent with somebody attempting to pry at the window and screen; however, they were not able to make entry.
At 9:52 p.m. a store reported a female had been acting suspiciously inside. They asked the female to leave, as it was nearing closing time. The female became confrontational and refused to leave, however did leave prior to officers’ arrival. Her identity is known and the store simply doesn’t wish for her to return.

At 12:56 p.m. a business reported a male came into the parking lot and was yelling and swearing at the manager. He observed the caller on her phone and made threats toward her, warning her not to call police as he aggressively approached her. She was able to separate herself from the man by entering the business. The male was located a short distance away and was arrested for disorderly conduct and probation violation.
At 2:50 p.m. a caller reported he was magnet fishing near a park and located several rounds of ammunition discarded in the Wisconsin River. The rounds appeared to be military rounds and were very corroded. They were properly disposed of.
At 7:02 p.m. a store reported an ex-employee had stolen food items from the store in the recent past. Investigation is ongoing

At 3:51 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local store for a female that had concealed multiple items in her purse before attempting to leave the store without paying for them. The woman was stopped by an employee of the store and remained with the employee until officers arrived. The woman was cited for retail theft as a result of the incident.
At 4:05 p.m. a business reported that they had received two fake $100 bills within an hour of each other.

At 3:51 p.m. officers were dispatched to a local store after a female was seen concealing items in her purse before walking out without paying for the items. Investigation is ongoing.

At 8:49 p.m. an individual reported that he had sent pictures of gift cards via email to a friend and later found out that his friend’s account had been hacked, after the friend said that he had not sent the email. Investigation is ongoing.
