*The building fire was a reported porch railing on fire in which the resident extinguished prior to Merrill Fire Department’s (MFD) arrival. Upon arrival, crews performed an investigation along with Merrill PD. This may have been a result of a family issue.
**The grass fire was as a result of a power line that had come down due to a tree falling on it from the strong winds. WPS was already in the area and grounded the wire so MFD could extinguish the fire along with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Estimated area burned was 0.6 acres.
