The Merrill Bluejay Trap Team is winding down their season, with one more match left in regular shooting, and Merrill has a number of shooters on the leader boards in the different levels of competition.
In Week 8 of shooting, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, the Merrill Bluejay Varsity Trap Team won against Medford Area Trap Club with a score of 115-110. After Week 8 scores were totaled, Merrill’s Bobby Hoff had slipped to second place in conference for the Varsity shooters overall (both male and female), but only by a very slim margin. Hoff is tied with Lakeland’s Matt Haggart with a score of 190, but Haggart took the lead with 120 Reverse Runs to Hoff’s 113.
At the Varsity level, Merrill’s Lydia Ashbrenner is in fifth place for female shooters in the conference with a cumulative score of 163.
Beyond Varsity
Beyond Varsity, all three of Merrill’s other divisions [JV, Intermediate Advanced (IA), and Intermediate Entry (IE)] also earned wins in Week 8 of scoring and have Merrill shooters on the leader boards at the Conference level.
Christopher Holz is again in first place in the Conference for IA (both male and female) with a cumulative score of 182, and he had Week 8’s only perfect score of 25 for the Bluejays. Not too far behind him, Merrill’s Alex Petrowski is at fifth place in the Conference for IA with a cumulative score of 174. Maria Ashbrenner is the high Merrill scorer for the ladies in the IA division, sitting at second place for female shooters in the conference, with a cumulative score of 155.
In JV, Merrill has two leading ladies: Lacey Frisch is currently in first place for female shooters in the conference for JV, with a cumulative score of 158, and Gracie Such is in third place for JV female shooters, with a cumulative score of 141.
At the IE level, Merrill’s Hunter Renken is in fourth place for the conference with a cumulative score of 160.
