Shirley Ann Chilsen
Shirley Ann Chilsen fell asleep in death April 29, 2022. She was born April 20, 1939 in Merrill, Wisconsin to Rueben and Margarett Anderson. She married Alfred Chilsen on August 29, 1957. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister June and brother-in-law Orland Simon; and her husband Alfred of 47 years. Shirley was always cooking and baking and found happiness in giving her food away. She was especially known for her pies and her children would request which one they wanted. Cards and board games also gave her great joy and she loved the competition. She enjoyed the association and took the initiative in inviting others to her home. She also loved watching her favorite football team― the Green Bay Packers. Her greatest joy was finding out that God’s name is Jehovah, while studying the Bible (Psalms 83:18). She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in March of 1980 along with her husband Alfred. The last 13 years she lived in Butler, Wisconsin to be closer to her children, and she developed many close friendships while there. She recently moved back to her hometown where her daughter resides. She devoted 42 years teaching everyone she met about God’s Kingdom, a government in Heaven ruled by Christ Jesus that will end wars and issue in a paradise earth where death will be no more (Revelation 21:3-4) and where millions will be resurrected to life on a beautiful earth (John 5:28, 29).
She is survived by her children: Brian (Donna) Chilsen, Milwaukee; Kevin Chilsen, Oshkosh; Debra Chilsen, Merrill; Todd (Melanie) Chilsen, Albany, NY; Brad (Elina) Chilsen, Milwaukee; Tamera Murdock, Merrill; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and her cat Olivia.
For those of us who knew and loved her she will be missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses at donate.jw.org
