The Merrill Varsity Girls Softball Team took on Marshfield in a double header on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at the Merrill Area Recreation Complex (MARC)
In game one, Addy Schmeltzer and Olivia Pierce both did time on the mound pitching. During Merrill’s at-bat time, the girls just couldn’t get a score. Marshfield won by 5 against a scoreless Merrill team.

Game two had Sophie Wendorf and Addy Schmeltzer taking time on the mound. But again, Merrill just couldn’t get the hits and the runs they needed to get a number on the scoreboard. Marshfield again scored 5 and Merrill ended up with another scoreless game.
“On a positive note, Laney Zuelsdorff in deep right field threw a runner out who was attempting to go from 1-3 on a single,” said Merrill Girls Varsity Softball Head Coach Alison Krohn. “And Nicole Doering had a few hits on the day.”

Come on out for youth night and poster signing
Merrill will host Wausau East on Thursday, May 5, and will also hold youth night and a poster signing event. Krohn said she is hoping to see a good turnout for the event. “We would love to get the word out to the community in any way possible,” she said.
