Road construction season is back. In Lincoln County, work will begin again on US Hwy 51 from the Marathon County line to Lincoln County K (Exit 211) in Merrill with a traffic switch, at which time crews will begin to remove the surface in the northbound lanes beginning at the Marathon County line and work north. Grading crews will mobilize to the site by mid-week and begin recycling the existing concrete pavement that is beneath the existing asphalt.
Traffic impacts: One lane will be closed in each direction from the Marathon County line to County K. Traffic will be counter directional in the southbound lanes to enable construction in the northbound lanes. Traffic will continuously stay in this configuration until July 1, 2022.
The project is scheduled for completion by November 15, 2022.
