Sing 2 (Available on demand on DirectTV for a fee and in theatres)
Rated PG

Hello, my friends. This week I bring you Sing 2. Yes, I know it’s been out for a bit. I was felled with the dread virus and quarantined for over a week now and could not get to the cinemas for a newer film. But alas, fear not, because, folks, this is a good one.

Picking up not long after the first one ended, Sing 2 continues to follow the adventures of Buster Moon (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) and his intrepid troupe of performers voiced by Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, and Nick Kroll, who just kills it as Gunther the German pig.

This outing finds our band of performers traveling to their version of Las Vegas in an attempt to break into the big leagues and, of course, the wild misadventures that befall them.

There are a few subplots, from finding love, to overcoming your fears, and of course, redemption. Sing 2 really does have a little bit of everything and a little bit of something for everyone.

One scene that had me start laughing so hard that it brought on a bout of coughing, involves a gecko, a glass eye, and a floor cleaner that’s about to tip over. I know that makes no sense, but just trust me – that bit is bigtime funny.

A wonderful side story involving a Salinger-like recluse of music fame, voiced by U2’s Bono, rounds out this tale that really is just fun as can be. See this one – you will not regret it.

I give this Sing 2 four out of five stars for excellent writing, some real laugh-out-loud moments, and its ability to make me forget about how darn sick I was while watching it.
