MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

01-03-22
At 12:20 a.m. a caller reported a male was banging and kicking at his door. The resident told the man to leave, and the man threatened to batter him. The male was located nearby and admitted he had been banging on the door, believing a female that he knew resided there. While talking to the officer, the man refused to keep his hands out of his pockets and was frisked for safety concerns. A methamphetamine pipe was located. The man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, and bail jumping.
At 8:18 a.m. a caller reported someone shot a window at his home with a pellet gun sometime over the weekend.
At 11:07 a.m. a caller reported a vehicle in a parking lot nearly struck him. The driver later reported his vehicle had been scratched and damaged by the man. Investigation continues.
At 11:23 a.m. a caller reported someone stole a package from the apartment complex she resides at. An officer will be reviewing surveillance video to determine who the suspect is.
At 11:46 a.m. a store reported the presence of two individuals who were banned from their store. The store called back shortly thereafter to report the two had concealed items in a bag and left. Both suspects’ identities are known, and investigation continues.

At 10:03 a.m. a caller reported that sometime in the past month, someone had shot a pellet gun at a school window, damaging it. Investigation is ongoing.
At 11:16 a.m. a store reported a male had shoplifted merchandise. The employee was able to provide a vehicle description and registration plate. An officer located the vehicle shortly thereafter and conducted a traffic stop. The male admitted he had stolen the items, claiming he intended to return to pay for them later. He was cited for retail theft and banned from the store. The man was also cited for operating without insurance.
At 1:34 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 2:07 p.m. the Parks Department reported someone had damaged the soffit at a park pavilion.
At 2:31 p.m. a business reported that sometime overnight, someone had shot a window with a pellet gun.
At 2:57 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

At 6:05 p.m. a store reported a female had attempted to shoplift merchandise. The female was cited for retail theft.
At 8:52 p.m. a caller reported her boyfriend had pushed her following an argument and that he had left the residence through a window. The male attempted to strike the female, making contact once and then, while exiting, missing her and striking the window, causing the window to shatter. The male was located the next day during an unrelated incident and was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property for this incident.
At 11:03 p.m. an officer on patrol found someone had damaged a soda machine at the Riverbend Trail Pavilion. Investigation is ongoing.

01-06-22
At 6:41 a.m. a caller reported a vehicle traveling on the roadway following a female and that the driver and female were arguing. A short time later it was reported the vehicle had cut the female off on the roadway, possibly striking her with the vehicle. It was found the female had not been struck by the vehicle; however, she had fallen into a snowbank when cut off. The male was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and two counts of bail jumping. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was subsequently charged for that, as well. A bag inside the vehicle was found to contain other items of drugs and paraphernalia. The female reported that the bag belonged to another male not on scene. She provided a text message conversation with this male in which he admits the bag belonged to him. He was located shortly thereafter and admitted ownership of the bag and contraband inside. He was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping.
At 9:19 a.m. a caller reported finding some jewelry missing, which had possibly been stolen from her. She discovered the jewelry was missing following a recent move and is not certain if it has been lost, misplaced, or stolen. Investigation continues.
At 10:27 a.m. a store reported a female had attempted to shoplift various merchandise, after filling a bag with items and taking it into the bathroom to conceal the items. The female was cited for retail theft.
At 12:38 p.m. a caller reported a burglary had taken place at her apartment sometime in the past several days. Investigation continues.
At 4:23 p.m. a caller reported he received an email indicating a cell phone had been ordered in his name. It was found a different credit card, not associated with the caller, had been used for the purchase. The caller spoke to the company and is not out any money at this point. It is unknown why his name was associated with the purchase.
At 6:05 p.m. a male reported someone had stolen his wallet from his residence. He refused to provide information to dispatch or to speak to an officer. As such, the incident cannot be investigated further.
At 6:44 p.m. a store reported a male had attempted to shoplift merchandise from the store. The man was cited for retail theft.
At 10:19 p.m. a caller reported a male had hidden a knife in a dumpster behind a hotel. The man was located by the dumpster, stating he had been locked out of his room by others also staying in the room. He was arrested for an unrelated incident from the previous day. He was found to be in possession of a marijuana pipe and THC and was charged with possession of those items.

At 3:28 p.m. Rhinelander PD requested an officer meet with a driver at a gas station, after he had been involved in a crash in their city. An officer spoke to the driver, took photographs of damage to the vehicle in question, and provided the information to Rhinelander PD.
At 4:54 p.m. a male reported he was missing several items, after others he was sharing a hotel room with had locked him out the previous day. Investigation continues.
At 6:54 p.m. officers made contact with a male, after it was reported he had been drinking intoxicants in violation of a bond. The man admitted to consuming intoxicants and provided a preliminary breath test confirming this. He was arrested for four counts of felony bail jumping.

01-08-22
At 10:55 a.m. a crash was reported in the 500 block of E. 2nd St. Two vehicles had been westbound on E. 2nd St. in the one-way lanes. The vehicle in the north lane made a left turn from the north lane, into the south lane, striking the other vehicle. A crash report was completed, and the offending driver was cited for improper left turn.
At 1:31 p.m. a caller reported observing a small dog that appeared to be tangled in a fence. An officer discovered it was not a dog but rather a stuffed animal.

01-09-22
At 12:32 p.m. Dispatch advised of a request for a welfare check for a resident who resides on N. Prospect St. The reporting party was concerned that the resident had not been heard from since Friday. An officer attempted contact with the resident, but no one answered.
At 3:26 p.m. an officer responded to an apartment complex on E. 6th St. for a report of neighbors harassing the resident. The reporting party stated that her neighbors had been taking pictures of her vehicle and had been knocking on her door in the past. The investigation is ongoing.
