William Henry Ohlmann

William Henry Ohlmann began his Heavenly journey on December 17, 2021 as a result of a house fire which took his life. Bill was born April 11, 1950 in Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill, Wisconsin to Rozella Ella Mae Wolfe and Frederick Wilhelm Ohlmann. He was the third child of seven.   Bill was employed in a variety of businesses and farming. Places of employment included Hoffman Construction, ITC, Krueger & Steinfest and the Wood Chips in Wisconsin and in Michigan. He was a dedicated, reliable employee who found numerous ways to use his mechanical skills. After experiencing a disabling illness, he took up wood working and constructed numerous types f lawn ornaments, bird and bat houses and furniture. He enjoyed a challenge of repairing items, also. His dream was fulfilled when he was able to purchase a saw mill. As the word spread, he was sawing logs for folks throughout Wisconsin.   He was an Honorary Member of the Merrill Eagles Club, People Helping People.   Living next door to his parents, provided him the opportunity to work on his father’s farm as needed plus his own. At least once a day, he stopped in for a cup of coffee and if lucky a slab of homemade bread or a bowl of soup. Throughout his life he made friends with whomever he met from all walks of life, income levels and cultures. He enjoyed talking to everyone. Not being affluent himself, he often found a way to help someone less fortunate than himself.   He also has a kind heart for animals. He bottle-fed twin fawns and rescued three raccoons after their mothers had been hit on the road just to name a few. He enjoyed watching bear cubs play in his fields. But Big Guy was a favorite. He was an old chicken who could be seen following Bill around the yard and coming to the door for treats. Losing his dog, Ace was a very sad day. He had been good company for Bill.

Bill is survived by his son Christopher (Heather), daughter Jaimie Ohlmann, and grandchildren Taylor and Ariana. Bill enjoyed his 20 years plus relationship with Karen Jantz. She survives. Siblings include Judith Gruetzmacher Woller,  Fredrick  (Patricia) Ohlmann, Caroline Welk, Rosalie (Robert) Naef, Ronald (deceased) (Darlene) Ohlmann and Rodney (Stephanie Brown) Ohlmann. Nieces and nephews include Frederick (Jacki) Gruetzmacher with Jonathan, Tanya (Joe) Stege with Taylor (mother of Christian and Nathaniel) and Megan (Ryan) Labine, Margo (Angela) Woller-Carter, Max Ohlmann, Sara (Jason) Karcz with Brady and Axton, David (Heidi) Welk with Evan, Kristen (Neil) Zurk, Katie (Justin Woller) with Jaycee and Jozy, Bill Naef, and Kelly (John) Kraegenbrink with Brook and Corina.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronald Ohlmann, and great-nephew Jordan Stege.  Special Friends are too many to mention. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
