The Merrill Girls Basketball Team traveled to Waupaca Nov. 30 where they used a big second half to pick up a non-conference road win over Waupaca.

The Bluejays outscored the Comets 32-20 in the second half and returned home with a 54-42 win.
It was the first win of the season for the Bluejays, who opened the season with losses to Lakeland, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, and Medford.

Merrill led by as many as eight points in the first half, but the Comets answered with a 15-7 run to tie the game at 22-22 at the break.

The Comets scored the first seven points of the second half to take their biggest lead, but Sophie Wendorf connected on three of her five-three-pointers to help the Bluejays take the lead for good at 32-31.

Wendorf led all scorers with 20 points, while Mia Ott added 9 and Maddy Ott and Alayna Pozorski chipped in with 8 each.

Josie Nickel led Waupaca with 17 points.
