Hit and Run on State Rd. 17 sends victim to the hospital and Eagle River man to jail

According to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) press release, on Nov. 28, 2021, at approximately 6:23 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a hit-and-run on State Rd. 17 near Cty. Hwy. X and learned a 37-year-old man had stopped his vehicle and exited to speak to the driver of the vehicle behind him for driving too close to his vehicle.
“A verbal altercation took place, and the driver accelerated to drive around the first vehicle.” While doing so, he struck the 37-year-old with his vehicle, then left the scene, traveling north on State Rd. 17.

“The 37-year-old male sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Wausau Aspirus Hospital,” the release said.

In conducting their investigation, LCSO shared information about the suspect vehicle with Oneida County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO). As a result, OCSO located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and ultimately arrested the driver who was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

That driver, now identified as forty-nine-year-old Todd M. Mohr of Eagle River, has been charged with felony Hit and Run Causing Injury and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, also a felony.

Mohr appeared in Lincoln County Court on Monday, Nov. 29. Release was set at $5,000 signature bond with conditions of no contact with the victim or within 500 feet of the victim, his residence, or his place of employment.

A status conference is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.

The name of the victim remains confidential.

Per the press release from the LCSO, Merrill EMS and the Town of Russell First Responders also assisted at the scene.
