10-18-2021
At 7:06 a.m. an officer responded to a theft complaint in reference to license plates stolen off of a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
At 10:30 a.m. an officer responded to a local church for a property damage complaint. It was discovered that an unknown party had thrown rocks through some windows on the church. The investigation is ongoing.

10-19-2021
At 3:58 p.m. dispatch advised of a child custody complaint at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office parking lot. A 15-year-old was refusing to go home with the mother. The mother was advised to call law enforcement to report child custody issues.
At 4:46 p.m. dispatch advised of a theft of a wallet at a local convenience store. The investigation is ongoing.
At 5:30 p.m. an officer was dispatched to the Merrill High School in regards to suspicious activity. Someone wrote a suspicious note and placed the note on a parked vehicle in the high school lot.
At 7:24 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence on Prospect Street in reference to a possible suicide threat. Officers spoke with the parties involved. NCHCC did an evaluation, and there was no need for an emergency detention.

10-20-2021
At 2:29 p.m. a caller reported a scam attempt. She reported her computer froze up with a notification of a virus. A moment later she received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft and they assisted in troubleshooting the issue and eventually asked for her credit card information. She provided the numbers for a store card but not all of the information from the card. She then received another phone call reportedly from the store the card was through that her card had been used in China in the amount of $9,000. She was instructed to report to the nearest store to purchase $9,000 in gift cards to rectify the situation. After speaking to family members, they alerted her that this was a scam. Since she had not provided all necessary information from the store card and had not purchased any store cards, she did not suffer a loss of any money. She contacted the store to have a new card issued.

10-21-2021
A convenience store was following up with an officer in reference to another matter and discovered a youth had stolen two bottles of booze from their store. The officer was able to identify the youth. Enforcement action is forthcoming.
At 7:23 p.m. a caller reported his teenage son ran away from home after he found marijuana pipes in his bedroom. The son was later located and returned home. He will be referred to Social Services for possession of drug paraphernalia.

10-22-2021
At 1:04 p.m. an officer initiated a traffic stop on 9th Street and Pier Street. The operator was cited for speed. After being cited, the driver took off at a higher rate of speed and was stopped a second time.
At 7:10 p.m. dispatch advised of a trailer theft in the 900 block of Mill St. The suspect took off in a newer red Chevrolet Silverado regular cab with dark tinted windows. The investigation is ongoing.
At 8:52 p.m. dispatch advised of a noise complaint at the 300 block of N Prospect St. The complaint was a radio being played too loud.

10-23-2021
At 9:09 a.m. dispatch advised of a vandalism complaint at Stuyvesant St. The report indicated that someone egged parked vehicles along the street. The investigation is ongoing.
At 5:48 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence at River Street for a report of a no-contact violation court order. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, but the suspect fled the residence before officers arrived at the location. The investigation is ongoing.
At 7:39 p.m. dispatch advised of a report of suspicious activity at the 600 block of 7th Street. The report indicated someone knocking on the door and possibly going inside the residence. Through further investigation, there was no crime that was committed, and there was no description or direction of travel of the suspect.

10-24-2021
At 11:21 p.m. officers of the Merrill Police Department observed a vehicle strike a parked truck on E. 2nd St. near Court St. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle a few blocks from where is struck the parked vehicle. Officers investigated the incident and observed that the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested for operating while under the influence, and is facing multiple charges for his resistive behavior.
