Merrill Bluejay Lady Swimmers are racking up the 1st place finishes

“The team is really swimming well,” Merrill Girls Swimming Coach Kristie Winter said in commentary on the Sept. 23 Swim Meet against Marshfield at the Prairie River Middle School Pool. “We are cutting time from week to week in most of our races We are in the peak of training so the girls are tired but pushing hard. This was the last of the smaller teams we will face. We have some tough teams from here on out in the season. Each will bring their own set of challenges. There should be some exciting races in the next few weeks.

Merrill took first or second place in all but one event against Marshfield, with a total of 8 first-place finishes, 2 second-place finishes, and one third-place finishes

Event 2 – 1st place in the Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay team of: Grace Schultz, Amber Winter, Claire Schultz, and Bailee Sommer (1:57.08)
Event 4 – 1st place in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle: Amber Winter (2:06.94)
Event 6 – 1st place in the Girls 200 Yard IM: Grace Schultz (2:17.13)
Event 8 – 1st place in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle: Claire Schultz (26.14)
Event 10 – 3rd place in the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly: Ahna Wilde (1:20.95)
Event 12 – 1st place in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle: Claire Schultz (58.70)
Event 14 – 2nd place in the Girls 500 Yard Freestyle: Olivia Pajtash (6:02.62)
Event 16 – 1st place in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay: Grace Schultz, Amber Winter, Bailee Sommer, and Claire Schultz (1:46.67)
Event 18 – 1st place in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke: Grace Schultz (1:03.63)
Event 20 – 1st place in the Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke: Amber Winter (1:12.07)
Event 22 – 2nd place in the Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay: Laney Zuelsdorff, Ahna Wilde, Emma Pajtash, and Bailey Orzech, Bailey (4:25.64)
