LCHD Offers Adult Drive-Thru & Walk In Flu Clinics in October

The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) is offering adult drive-thru flu clinics for a second year. “Last year was the first time we offered drive-thru flu clinics and we were unsure how it would be received by the public,” said Jennifer Johnson, Public Health Nurse for LCHD. “What we learned was that this is a preferred option for many. We received feedback on the convenience, efficiency, and safety of these clinics and wanted to provide a drive-thru option again this year.”
An annual flu shot is the best way to prevent the flu and is recommended for everyone 6 months and older, according to the LCHD. Flu symptoms can range from mild to severe, and in some cases can cause life-threatening complications. Symptoms can come on quickly and include fever, headache, dry cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, body aches, and tiredness. If you do get the flu after getting vaccinated, it is more likely to be a milder case, they say. If symptoms do develop, they recommended getting tested to determine if you have the flu or another respiratory illness, like COVID-19 or Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
