MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

09-06-2021
At 7:15 p.m. there was a report of a reckless driver, driving a green sedan, traveling southbound on highway 51. The vehicle exited on highway 64 into the City of Merrill near the South Ridge Ave. stoplights. Officers were able to locate the vehicle at a gas station in that area. The vehicle displayed a State of Minnesota license plate. The operator of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody. The subject was arrested for an OWI 2nd offense.
At 9:39 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle driving without headlights or taillights. The operator of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was cited for OWI 1st offense and later released to a responsible party.
09-07-2021
At 2:36 a.m. officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a male party attempting to gain entry and making statements of having a firearm. Officers arrived and located the suspect a short distance from the scene. It was determined the male was previously in a relationship with the female reporting party. No firearm was located on the male or in the area of the scene. The male was arrested for domestic related disorderly conduct and threatening computer messages.
At 9:01 a.m. an officer responded to a local retail store for a report of a counterfeit bill. The bill was collected by the officer and brought back to the police department. The investigation is ongoing.
At 9:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a domestic incident involving a male party brandishing a firearm. Officers located the male party and were able to take him into custody. It was discovered that the male had battered his girlfriend and was making threats with a firearm. The male was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct while armed, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
At 11:32 p.m. officers responded to a residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the involved male and female parties. Officers located a methamphetamine pipe and methamphetamine inside the apartment while interviewing the involved. The male party was arrested on charges of domestic disorderly conduct, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 9:06 a.m. a caller reported finding denting on his vehicle hood.
At 3:56 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
At 4:21 p.m. a male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
09-09-21
At 2:17 a.m. a caller reported observing some youths throwing something at one of the elementary schools. Officers located four youths in the area. It was found the youths had thrown beer cans at one of the doors of the school but no damage was observed. All four youths were cited for curfew violations and two of them were cited for tobacco violations.
At 11:25 a.m. a caller reported a delivery truck struck their business causing damage to some lighting. The driver reported he was unaware he had struck the lights. Arrangements were made for the delivery company to pay for the damage to the lights.
09-10-21
At 09:17 a.m. dispatch advised of a runaway juvenile. The runaway juvenile had not been coming home for the past couple days from school. An officer was able to make contact with the juvenile and ask where they were staying. The officer spoke with the mother and advised to call if the behavior continues.
At 2:36 p.m. officers were dispatched to West Main Street for a report of a vehicle doing burnouts in front of a residence. Officers spoke with the reporting party and verified who was doing the burnouts. Officers will continue to attempt to make contact with the suspect.
At 9:13 p.m. dispatch advised of a possible intoxicated driver located at an East Main Street business. An officer made contact with the subject who appeared to be physically disabled and not under the influence of intoxicants. The subject decided to walk to where she was staying at in Merrill because her driver’s license was suspended.
09-11-21
Around 1:28 p.m. dispatch advised of a driving complaint of vehicles exceeding the speed limit near the 500 block of Genesee Street in the City of Merrill. An officer observed the vehicles legally parked on the street and no traffic violations were observed.
Around 3:11 p.m. a vehicle was stopped for speed on Taylor Street near Grand Ave in the City of Merrill. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
Around 5:53 p.m. dispatch advised of a threat complaint of an employee at a nursing home in the City of Merrill. The report was an employee received threats to her life from a coworkers wife. The officer was able to talk with both parties involved and the situation was resolved.
Around 6:08 p.m. officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a report of a suicide threat. The reporting party stated that the resident texted photos to her stating he was going to end his life using a 30/06 rifle. Officers were able to set up a perimeter around the complex and shut down Memorial Drive for traffic. Officers took the suspect into protective custody and located the rifle in the residence. The suspect was transported to NCHCC in Wausau for further evaluation.
09-12-2021
At 2:00 a.m. an officer responded to a local tavern for a report of a hit-and-run vehicle crash. The suspect was identified by the officer and was cited for unsafe backing and operating after revocation.
At 4:28 p.m. officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a female party with warrants. Officers located the female and she was taken into custody on the warrants.
