Joann Marie (Nyberg) Medina, 65, of Marion, formerly of Tomahawk-Merrill, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A Private Celebration of Life will take place in Marion. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place in Tomahawk, Wisconsin in the Spring of 2022. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion, is caring for Joann and her family.
Survivors include her children, Melissa (Jeremy) Anderson and Joshua (Michelle) Hildebrandt; grandchildren, Kylie and Aiden Anderson, Evelynn Hildebrandt, and one on the way; sisters, Sandy Nyberg (Mario Tantillo), and Diane (Bob) Langeberg; sisters-in-law, Diane Nyberg and Kelly Nyberg; close friends, Butch and Debbie Russ and their family; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and -nephews; and beloved dog, Oliver. She was preceded in death by her parents; former spouse, Michael; husband, Dave; and brothers, Alan and Jim.
Joann Marie Nyberg was born June 12, 1956, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, to John Gustav and Roberta Marie (Hickey) Nyberg. She graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1974. She married Michael Hildebrandt, and they had two children. They later divorced. Joann married David Medina, and were married until his passing. Joann enjoyed cross stitch, sudoku and crossword puzzles, coloring books, reading books—especially Danielle Steele, sitting by the bonfire, and, in her younger days, motorcycle rides. Most importantly, Joann cherished her family. Joann loved every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved butterflies, and her family will know her love each time they see one. Memorials may be directed to a charity Joann would have appreciated such as an animal rescue, or to help those with Diabetes, COPD, or Cancer.
