Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) annouced Matthew Schult has been hired as the new Elementary Associate Principal at Kate Goodrich Elementary School. Matt earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He began his teaching career at New Hampton Middle School in northeast Iowa. After five years there, he returned to his Bluejay roots and served as a teacher and an instructional coach at MAPS for the past four years. Along with teaching, he also enjoyed coaching both volleyball and basketball at the middle and high school level. While serving at MAPS, he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through Viterbo University.
Outside of school, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and following Wisconsin sports teams. He can also be found playing in volleyball leagues and biking the many trails throughout Wisconsin.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Kate Goodrich community. I am looking forward to pairing with Principal Skutak and working together with the Kate staff and families to ensure our students gain the knowledge and skills they need to be successful.”
Matt has already started the school year by participating in a data retreat in order to begin making a difference on the students’ first day back. He also had the opportunity to participate in Rapid Cycle Feedback Training to enhance the quality of his evaluations with teachers.
“Matt is a quality professional,” said Superintendent Dr. John Sample. “I was very pleased with the caliber of candidates interviewing for this position. I am equally as excited for our students at Kate Goodrich who will benefit from his leadership.”
Matt joins Principal Heather Skutak as they combine to form the administrative leadership team at Kate Goodrich.
