Merrill Fire Department 501(c)(3) Charity Benefit Softball Tournament supports the needs of the Merrill community

The Merrill Fire Department hosted the 41st Annual Merrill Firefighters Charities Allan Soward Memorial Co-ed Softball Tournament on the weekend of August 6-8.
The tournament was held at Ott’s Park in Merrill and was a seven-team round robin. Games kicked off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night with the championship game played at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. There was a very good attendance of spectators throughout the weekend, including a number of dedicated fans that sat through the rain on Saturday to watch the games. A Smokey the Bear vs. Firepup kids game was held on Sunday. Plautz Pub and The Dugout made it into the Championship, with Plautz Pub winning the final game.
The Merrill Firefighter Charities was created in 2012 to help support individuals in a time of need and organizations working to improve and keep Merrill a great place to live and raise a family. This was the Merrill Fire Department’s 41st year of hosting this Tournament. It wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of the Merrill community. The Merrill Fire Department is honored to host this tournament all these 41 years, as the event is a fun way for people to come together and raise money for a good cause.
