This Sunday, July 25, Merrill will become a flyover zone, so residents will be seeing a dramatic increase in air traffic over the city.
“The Airventure Cup Race will again be using Merrill Municipal Airport as a finish line for the Annual Aircraft Race leading up to Oshkosh Airventure Week,” said Rich McCullough, Merrill Municipal Airport Manager.
“This will not be a spectator event here at the airport,” he added. ” Aircraft will simply be flying over the city from the North and continuing South to land in Wausau.”
“We would like to send out a notice to the Citizens of Merrill that there will be about 60 aircraft flying over the city from about 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.”
