MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

07-05-2021
At 6:09 a.m. officers were dispatched to a trespassing complaint in the 1200 block of Lark Street. A male suspect had entered a residence through a window without the owner’s consent. The male party was identified and taken into custody for criminal trespass to dwelling and disorderly conduct.
At 3:24 p.m. officers were dispatched to a gas skip in the 1200 block of West Main Street. A description of the vehicle was provided to officers and an officer located the vehicle in question operating on East Main Street. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the male driver. The male was confirmed to be the suspect in the gas skip and was also found to have a warrant for his arrest. The male was taken into custody for the warrant and was also cited for fraud on a gas station.
07-06-2021
At 9:01 p.m. an officer responded to Normal Park for a report of vandalism. The officer found the garbage can to the men’s restroom to be broken and garbage spread throughout, as well as ice cream thrown at the wall inside the women’s restroom. The investigation is ongoing.
07-07-2021
At 4:54 a.m. an officer responded to an area residence for a report of a burglary. The victim stated that his apartment had been broken into sometime between July 2 and July 7. The male party stated he was missing approximately $2,500 in cash from his apartment. The investigation is ongoing.
At 7:18 a.m. an officer responded to a hit-and-run crash. The driver of the striking vehicle was located and issued citations for the hit and run.
At 3:04 p.m. an officer responded to the Probation and Parole Office to take a male party into custody for a probation violation. The male was arrested and taken to jail.
07-08-2021
At 2:11 p.m. an officer responded to a local department store for a shoplifting complaint. The suspect was located and will be charged/cited appropriately.
At 11:14 p.m. officers responded to a residence for a domestic incident. It was discovered that a male party had left the residence prior to law enforcement arrival. The reported victim stated a male party had physically battered them. The male was not located immediately but was able to meet with an officer for a follow up interview. Criminal charges are pending further review.
07-09-21
At 2:16 a.m. a caller reported a possible burglary in progress after observing a male kicking in a door at a residence. It was found the male was the tenant, had locked himself out and forced entry into his own residence.
At 1:06 p.m. a caller reported someone had used his wife’s personal information fraudulently to file for unemployment in her name. Investigation is ongoing.
At 3:55 p.m. a caller reported finding someone had scratched their vehicle sometime in the past several days.
07-10-21
At 4:11 p.m. a hit-and-run crash was reported in a business parking lot. An employee witnessed the crash and was able to provide information leading to the driver of the striking vehicle being located. The driver admitted to the crash and stated she didn’t know what to do so she fled the scene. She was cited for hit and run and a crash report was completed.
At 6:18 p.m. a caller reported a male was becoming aggressive with his girlfriend and was intoxicated. Officer responded to the residence and the girlfriend reported her boyfriend had called one of the children a vulgar name and she wished him removed from the residence. It was found the man has a bond condition in which he is not to have contact with the female. He will be summonsed for misdemeanor bail jumping.
At 7:17 p.m. a caller reported her vehicle had been stolen while she was napping. An acquaintance was found to have taken the vehicle without permission to visit her boyfriend in Wausau. The vehicle was recovered in Wausau and the 16-year-old who had taken it will be referred to social services for taking and operating motor vehicle without owner’s consent. The 16-year-old was also cited for operating after revocation.

At 8:45 a.m. a caller reported someone had smashed the rear window of her vehicle out sometime overnight.
