Bluejay Track & Field: Athletes compete at Regionals and Sectionals, four events/six athletes advance to State

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Regional Track & Field competition was held at D.C. Everest on Monday, June 14.
“Collectively we advanced 19 different athletes in 9 different events through to the Sectional Meet,” Head Track & Field Coach Jason Wadzinski said. “Of those nine events, five of them were Regional Champions!”
The Sectional Qualifiers included:
• 4×800 m Relay: Isaiah Rell, Kyle Stellingworth, Cal Hoeppner, David Golisch, Caleb Norton, Elliot Hanson (4th Place)
• 4×200 m Relay: Cam Gebert, Brian Ball, Kayoda Raddatz, Johnny Krause, AJ Vogel, Galen Franke (3rd Place)
• 4×400 m Relay: Faith Seliger, Olivia Troyer, Madi Crossman, Liz Schmidt, Emma Marlowe, Crystal Dearth (Regional Champ)
• High Jump: Faith Seliger (Regional Champ)
• 200 m Dash: Madi Crossman (Regional Champ)
• 1600 m Run: Liz Schmidt (Regional Champ)
• 800 m Run: Liz Schmidt (Regional Champ)
• 110 Hurdles: Carter Jensen (3rd Place)
• 300 Hurdles: Carter Jensen (3rd Place)

Those athletes headed back to Everest for the WIAA Sectional for Track & Field on Thursday, June 17.
“We pushed four events through to the State Meet next Saturday, June 26,” Coach Wadzinski said. “What a season it’s been! They’ve put together a strong showing at Conference, Regionals, and Sectionals. We are incredibly proud of this Merrill Track & Field team.”
State Qualifying athletes are:
• 4×400 m Relay: Faith Seliger, Olivia Troyer, Madi Crossman, Liz Schmidt, Emma Marlowe, Crystal Dearth (3rd Place)
• 200 m Dash: Madi Crossman (3rd Place)
• 1600 m Run: Liz Schmidt (Sectional Champ)
• 800 m Run: Liz Schmidt (Sectional Champ)
“This is arguably the biggest week of our season, Wadzinski said. While the season is a wrap for most of the Bluejay Track & Field Team, six athletes will go on to compete at the WIAA State competition for Track & Field this Saturday, June 26, in La Crosse. Good luck, Lady Jays!
