Andrew ‘Andy’ John Lyon, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 14, 2021, in Green Bay, WI. He was born on July 14, 1983, to Werner and Elizabeth (Lyon) Mathis in Merrill, WI. His mother survives. Andy worked at FyterTech as a lead operator for many years. He loved his work and the people that he worked with. He is remembered by his family and friends as a hard-working man with an incredible work ethic. Andy had a contagious laugh that you could recognize right away. He was a kind and caring person that lived life to the fullest, enjoyed spending time with his family and was always up for the next adventure! Andy enjoyed going to the casino from time to time but was a fisherman at heart. He had a true passion for fishing and would go whenever he could. Andy also liked watching all the Wisconsin sports teams, he was an avid fan. He is also remembered for his love of cats, and he had 4 of his own. Andy will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.
Andy is survived by his mother: Liz (Kenny) Hinner of Merrill, brother: Paul Mathis of Green Bay, aunts: Jole (Al Lupton) Hinz, Lori (Joel) Ruprecht, Dee Lyon and Michelle (Andrew Humulock) Klug, all of Merrill, cousins: Matthew, Tyler (Alexandria) and Molly (Andy) Privette, his extended Mathis family and his 4 beloved kitties. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, father: Werner Mathis and uncle: Greg Lyon.
A Memorial Service for Andy will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 6:30pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. Sister John Marie will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 4pm until the time of the service, also at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life for Andy will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 1pm-5pm at Rock Island Resort, N2737 State Highway 107, Merrill, WI 54452. Burial of Andy’s cremains will take place at a later date. The service at the funeral home will be live streamed and available for viewing on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 6:30pm and can be found under his obituary on the funeral home website. It will then be posted as a recording for future viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy’s memory may be directed to the Lincoln County Humane Society or the Brown County Humane Society.
