Local organizations can now apply to receive grant funds through the American Rescue Plan Act. Grant application forms should be completed and returned to the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office at Merrill City Hall, 1004 E. First St., Merrill, as soon as possible. An end date for the program has not yet been set and will remain in effect “until further notice or until allocated funds are exhausted,” according to a press release issued by Merrill City Administrator Dave Johnson.
“It is recognized that many local events and programs have suffered as a result of the COVID Pandemic,” the release said. “Utilizing American Rescue Plan Act funding, the City of Merrill has established a grant program to encourage and promote economic recovery of hospitality businesses, tourism, and non-profit organizations in Merrill. Organizations that have promoted tourism in the Merrill Area through events and programs may apply for assistance to fund their events and programs in 2021.”
“Applicants are required to disclose their complete organizational budget and source of funding when completing this form to be considered for funding,” the release continued. Incomplete forms will not be considered, it said.
The application form is available on the City’s website at: https://www.ci.merrill.wi.us/ or an application may be picked up from the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office. Call City Hall at 715.536.5594 with any questions.
Applications approved for funding will receive a notifcation letter from the City of Merrill that states the approved amount and additional instructions “regarding the allocation of approved dollars.”
“The City reserves the right to deny or modify requests,” the release added.
