05-24-21
At 9:04 a.m. a caller reported someone had struck a small tree on Riverside Ave. and failed to report the crash. Investigation is ongoing.
At 1:59 p.m. a caller reported finding a box full of drug paraphernalia left behind at an apartment by a former tenant. An officer collected the box of paraphernalia, and the investigation is ongoing.
At 4:03 p.m. a caller reported a fight at a park. It was found two males had a disagreement concerning a debt owed. One male left to go to his residence in Schofield and returned with another male and two females. One of the males then battered the other and fled back to Schofield. Both males have been identified, and one will be charged with substantial battery and the other with disorderly conduct.
At 5:10 p.m. a female was found to be shoplifting from a store. She was cited for retail theft.
At 6:50 p.m. a caller reported observing a red Ford F150 pickup truck strike a vehicle in the 400 block of W. Main St. and leave the scene. An officer observed the registration plate on the struck vehicle was slightly bent. Contact was made with the vehicle owner who bent the registration plate back to its original position.

At 6:36 a.m. a caller reported a black bear in a tree near the festival grounds. The caller and others were told to leave it alone and it would come down and leave on its own.
At 9:03 a.m. a female called after water was spraying from her washing machine. She had nobody else to assist her and her landlord was out of town. An officer assisted in turning her water off to the washing machine.
At 2:18 p.m. a crash was reported on E. Main St. at Pine Ridge Ave. Both drivers reported they had a green light. A crash report was completed.
At 5:08 p.m. a caller reported someone stole her purse from her cart while she was at a store. A short time later it was found someone had found the purse and turned it into store staff.

At 9:36 a.m. officers responded to a report of a burglary at a building. It was found that the building was broken in to by multiple parties that caused damage to the building. The damage included broken windows, a broken door, and multiple fire extinguishers being used. The investigation is ongoing.
At 1:26 p.m. an officer responded to a fraud complaint. The reporting party stated she received a call from someone claiming to be from WPS. The party claiming to be from WPS stated that the victim owed them money in order to keep the electricity on at the residence. The victim lost approximately $500.00 as a result of the scam. The investigation is ongoing.
At 7:09 p.m., officers responded to a two vehicle crash. It was determined that the driver of one vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle. The driver that failed to stop at the stop sign was cited for the stop sign violation as well as operating a vehicle without insurance.

At 11:28 a.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence. It was reported that a male party had pushed and struck a female party during an argument. The male party had left the scene prior to officer arrival. The male party has yet to be located, and charges of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and felony bail jumping have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
At 7:45 p.m. an officer responded to a report of a theft of money. The reporting party stated that she had some relatives over at the residence, and she noticed $90.00 was stolen from a drawer in the living room. The investigation is ongoing.
At 11:02 p.m. officers were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle crash near the Prairie River Middle School. The reporting party stated they heard the crash and went outside their residence to see what happened. The reporting party saw a younger female party walking away from the crash scene. The vehicle was heavily damaged and had struck a street sign and a large rock during the crash. The driver has yet to be located.

At 2:56 a.m. a caller reported a burglary at her residence. She reported she returned to her residence and found forced entry to the door. Some items were found to be missing from the residence. A possible suspect was named and investigation continues.
At 9:12 a.m. a caller reported a male at a residence was “going crazy.” It was found a male had blamed his girlfriend for his wallet missing. It was reported the male had pushed and kicked the female during this incident. The male was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and four counts of bail jumping.
At 1:58 p.m. a caller reported a scam attempt. He had befriended a female on the app TikTok. This female sent the caller provocative photos of herself. The caller informed the female that he was married and blocked her. Another person, on a different social media platform, sent the caller a message insinuating he was involved in pedophilia and demanded $2,000 be sent to them. The caller did not send any money. The caller was advised to block that person, as well, as this was a scam attempt.

At 10:57 a.m. a caller reported a female lying in the roadway who then got up and was hunched over in a parking lot. The officer located the female, who was intoxicated. He provided her a ride home.
At 8:05 p.m. a convenience store reported an intoxicated male came into the store attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages. Given his intoxicated state, they refused to sell to him. He arrived with a small child in a taxi. The caller was concerned, as the man was yelling at the child and, given his intoxicated state, were concerned the child may not have appropriate supervision. Officers were able to determine the man lived in an apartment building and made contact. It was found the child’s mother was present and was providing supervision to the child. The man was found to have a warrant for his arrest through the state of Ohio. He was arrested for that warrant.
At 9:29 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for operating without headlamps illuminated. The officer could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver admitted she had marijuana and turned it over to the officer. She was cited for possession of THC.

At 5:50 p.m. a caller reported finding a syringe lying on the ground. An officer properly disposed of the syringe.
