Darlene Dawn (Gotter) Kasper, age 86, of Merrill, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, Wisconsin. Darlene was born on March 9, 1935 in Loyal, Wisconsin to Elmer and Elsie (Strey) Gotter. Darlene married Vernon H. Kasper on February 2, 1952 in Loyal, Wisconsin. After residing in Abbotsford, Wisconsin for several years, Vern and Darlene moved to Merrill, Wisconsin where they co-owned Kasper Stationery and Office Supply for 14 years. After which, Darlene worked at the Marshfield Clinic – Merrill Center for several years. Darlene was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, watching Hallmark movies, baking, playing cards, traveling, dancing, and most of all, she loved spending time with her extended family.
Darlene is survived by her four children, Deborah (Peter) Baumgardt, Terry (Nancy) Kasper, Gary (Kathy) Kasper, and Sharon (Daniel) Dimmer; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Elmer Gotter, Robert (LeeAnn) Gotter, and sister, Donna Pollack. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Vernon, who passed in 2012.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Bell Tower Residence Assisted Living staff for their kindness and wonderful care of Darlene. Also, thank you to Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. The family would like to especially thank Amber from the activities staff for being there for Darlene as a caregiver and friend, thank you.
There will be no public service. A private service and inurnment of Darlene’s cremated remains will take place at a later date at Merrill Memorial Park. Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.
