Wrath of Man (Showing in Theatres)
Rated R – For pervasive brutal and near constant violence, language, and one brief scene of sexuality.
Readers, every week I do my best to give you a concise review of a different film, and every week I struggle to find the balance between reviewing the film without giving away too much information, and while still making some semblance of sense.
This week’s film is Wrath of Man, directed by the excellent Guy Richie (The Gentlemen) and starring Jason Statham (The Fate of the Furious) and a cavalcade of some of Hollywood’s great character actors and an almost unrecognizable Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor), and this is a film that I simply cannot say much about, due to the complexity of the plot.
What I can say is this: Wrath of Man is fantastic. From the direction to the acting to the writing, this film demands attention and grabs you from the very start.
But be warned, this film is brutal. It is violent, and it is uncompromising.
I am sorry I cannot tell you more, but to do so would be a great disservice to you.
Go see this film, pay attention to the flow of the story and timelines, go to the bathroom before the film starts, and enjoy the ride.
Wrath of Man is the best crime film of the year without contest.
I give Wrath of Man 5 stars because I cannot give it 6, but I would if I could.
Make plans now to see this film.
