Smukowski is named Athlete of the Week

Merrill High School (MHS) Junior Jordan Smukowski has been named Athlete of the Week for the week of April 29, 2021. Jordan joined the Merrill Bluejay Trap Team in the 8th grade and started shooting at the Varsity level in 2019; the team did not shoot in 2020 due to COVID. He has been one of the high scoring shooters at each of the first three meets of this season, scoring a 23 against Rhinelander, a 24 against Mosinee, and a 23 against Lakeland Union. Jordan actually started shooting guns at age 12 after going through hunter’s safety. He enjoys rabbit, squirrel, bear, and deer hunting, but especially duck and bird hunting.
Jordan also plays as the tackle on the Merrill Bluejays Varsity Football Team and completed his third year on the team in the fall. He started playing football in the sixth grade.
When he is not in school or shooting and hunting, Jordan enjoys fishing and camping. He currently maintains a 3.4 GPA and is the son of Theresa Smukowski and Gordon Smukowski of Merrill. He is undecided about his career plans after high school.
