On Apr. 12, Nicolet Bankshares, Inc. with headquarters in Green Bay, Wis., and Mackinac Financial Corporation with headquarters in Manistique, Mich., announced they have signed an agreement to merge. The Merrill mBank, formerly Lincoln County Bank, is a subsidiary of Mackinac and was acquired by Mackinac and re-branded as mBank on Oct. 1, 2018. Now, less than three years later, the building at 1400 E. Main Street in Merrill will get a new name and corporate identity again.
Chris Dimmer, Sr. Vice President Retail Branch Network Director for Nicolet National Bank, confirmed Nicolet will be acquiring mBank in Merrill as a part of the agreement. “It will be re-branded as Nicolet,” he said. “The name will go from mBank to Nicolet, and we will reach out to customers and employees as we get closer.” Customers don’t need to do anything differently at this time, he said.
“Right now we are just working on the integration,” Dimmer said, “The work that happens, all the behind-the-scenes things.”
Dimmer said Nicolet anticipates the changeover will be completed in September, so those communications will likely begin in summer.
One thing Dimmer stressed: “You will continue to feel the community bank presence by Nicolet,” he said. “That is something we really pride ourselves on and something we’re proud of. That’s not going to change.”
