Merrill to celebrate Patsy Woller Day on April 3

A RESOLUTION TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF PATSY WOLLER, FORMER MAYOR OF MERRILL
WHEREAS, the City of Merrill was greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Mayor Patsy Woller, an exemplary public servant and human being; and,
WHEREAS, Patsy Woller served as Mayor of the City of Merrill from 1992 until 1998, as well as Council President from 1988 until 1992, with the distinction of being the first woman elected to both positions; and,
WHEREAS, Patsy Woller did not limit her efforts to the City of Merrill, she also ran and served in Lincoln County government for 17 years; serving on countless committees and boards. She was also instrumental in advocating for the addition at the T.B. Scott Library, the Merrill Area Recreation Complex (M.A.R.C.), and co-founding a program that created flower gardens around the City; and,
WHEREAS, Patsy Wollerwas instrumental in fostering multiple businesses in the City of Merrill including The Grand Stand, the Merrill Courier, and Patsy’s Candy Tree.
WHEREAS, Patsy Woller’s cheerful manner, and spirit of true dedication to public service made her a beloved and respected figure throughout the City of Merrill;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERRILL, WISCONSIN this 9th day of February, 2021, that the Common Council and the people of Merrill officially extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family of Mayor Patsy Woller.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that April 3rd, 2021, her birthday, will be Patsy Woller Day in the City of Merrill, Wisconsin.
